Report of the event:
On 21st December 2021, masterclass on Relevance and Application of Law and Ethics in Today’s Media. It was aimed to acquaint the students with the practical aspects of law and ethics within the framework of media. 71 students attended the seminar which covered the aspects that included legal behavior, ethical behavior and social behavior, the dilemmas covered by ethics, various types of ethics such as meta ethics, normative ethics and applied ethics, relation between law and ethics. The session threw highlights on how some actions are unethical but legal and some are ethical but illegal. It also provoked students to think if law can promote ethical behavior.
The second half of the seminar was focused on the basics of intellectual property rights and their importance in the media industry. The speaker explained the various types of intellectual property rights, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. They also discussed how these rights can be used to protect the creative works of individuals and companies in the media industry.
