Communicating through the Power of Visuals held on 21st & 22nd Jan 2022
The IQAC under the leadership of Principal Dr. Amee Vora, conducted its two days international conference titled Alternative Narrative: Communicating through the Power of Visuals on the ZOOM platform.
The conference garnered participation from various states from all over the country.
The conference was organised as a provision that could create a formidable space for expression, discussion, debate and progression of Alternative Narratives relayed through Visuals.
The Conference was graced by the presence of RSET president Mr. Ashokji Saraf, trustee Mr. Kailashji Kejriwal, Chief Guest Dr. Swaroop Sampat Rawal and Keynote Speaker Ms. Rikke Hansen.
The conference was divided into 12 segments.
The first day showcased 6 sessions, namely:
– Alternative Narrative: Test as Visuals by Dr. Santosh Kshirsagar, Dean Sir J.J School of Applied Arts.
– Alternative Narrative: Documentary Film by Mr. J. Prabhakar, Coordinators & Production Manager of Visuals, Puthiya Thalaimal TV and Mr. Joshy Joseph, Head – Kolkota Films Division.
– Alternative Narrative: Visuals in Religion by Revd. Dr. J Ravikumar Stephen G, Presiding Bishop, General Convention of the Episcopal churches in South Asia.
– Alternative Narrative: Visual Effects and VFX by Mr. Shajy Thomas, Regional Head, Technology, Asia Pacific, Technicolour.
– Alternative Narrative: Unreal Engine in Gaming by Mr. Arvind Neelakantan, Tech Evangelist, Epic Games.
The second day showcased 6 sessions along with the Valedictory:
– Alternative Narrative: Films by Mr. Anand Gandhi, Film Maker
– Alternative Narrative: Film Critique by Mr. Baradwaj Rangan, Film Reviewer & Critic, Film Companion South
– Alternative Narrative: Dance by Ms. Jhelum Paranjape, Founder of Smitalay, Ms. Chithra Sukumaran, Mohiniattam Dancer and Moderator Dr. Subhalakshmi R. Kumar, Bharatanatyam Dancer.
– Alternative Narrative: Art & Design by Mr. Tushar Vayeda, Warli Artist
– Alternative Narrative: Advertising by Mr. S.Narsimhan, the President of West & Executive Creative Director, RK Swamy BBDO
– Research papers were presented. Mr Abhijit presented his work based on the photo book: Totos of Totopara. Totopara name comes from the Toto tribes and by Prof Selvi of DGMC. The topic:An investigative exploration on the dynamics of violence, displacement and adaptation portrayed in the film: Asuran.
– The Valedictory ceremony was hosted by Prof. Kanchan Luthra, with Mr. Rutvij Barot, the Creative Head of Operations, Technicolor.
The International Conference concluded with participants of the conference Ms. Rucha Wankhede and Ms. Natasha from the audience presented a report on the various sessions that were conducted during the two days’ International conference.
