Digital Freedom : Cyber Security
Cyber transactions of all nature run the risk of sharing a precarious co-existence with cyber attacks. What’s the best defense against this current state of cyber vulnerability? A strong cyber security system is the answer. But a strong cyber security system doesn’t rely solely on cyber defense technology; it also relies on people making smart cyber defense choices.
To arm students with cyber security information that can help them adopt smart cyber defense mechanisms in their day-to-day lives, the Rotaract Club of Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies organized a webinar titled Digital Freedom : Cyber Security on 15th October 2020 on Google Meet from 3.30 p.m.
Mr. Nitin Mehta – President RCBA, Mr. Apurva Patel – Secretary RCBA, and Mrs. Pragna Mehta – Director of Youth Services RCBA honoured the event by joining as special guests of honour. Dr. Amee Vora, the principal of Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies, added grace to the webinar with her conveyance of best wishes to the organizing team.
Mr. Aalok Karnik was the resource person of the webinar. Being a firm advocate of cyber-safe behaviour and information security, with over a decade of experience working in the United States of America for Fortune 50 companies, Mr. Karnik was a right fit to conduct the webinar.

The two-hour eye-opening session was accompanied by a power point slide show highlighting strategies one needs to use to protect one’s data. The speaker discussed the various tools & methods to protect oneself from falling prey to the rising number of cyber-crimes other than providing hacks on how to avoid malicious hackers by fool-proofing one’s data.
Alongside the session, Mr. Karnik also interacted with the participants by addressing every query that was raised on the chat box. These questions were addressed with a view to provide all sets of information that stood relevant to the question.
Ms. Akshata Kodlekar efficiently functioned as the Master of the Ceremony. More than 100 attendees including students from other colleges had attended the webinar. There were raving reviews from both faculties and students alike. The event turned out to be extensively informative and highly useful.
