Intercollegiate Media Festival CINEVOYAGE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL organized from 10th to 13th February 2021 via ZOOM and Google Meet Platforms
Time and again, human minds have looked for refuge and expression through Cinema. 2020-2021 was no exception, despite the fact that life itself took a detour for many in this very year. Apparently, the Film Club of Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies organized its fourth Annual International Film Festival – Cinevoyage 2021.
Cinevoyage was a three day film festival celebrating our love for everything in Cinema from the cobbler’s bench to the king’s altar. Through this festival, DGMC has been providing a powerful platform annually to encourage students and professionals alike to not just showcase their talents but also their creativity, the scale of their ideas and their interpretations.
During the pandemic, the world population has faced willing and unwilling isolation and at the same time it has led us to exploring parts of our lives we had buried. Reenacting this, our theme this year was Freedom and Confinement.
This edition of Cinevoyage saw 1,400 entries from 96 different countries in the amateur and professional categories. International entries included films from Spain, Iran, Bangladesh, United States, Nepal etc.
The festival was graced by the presence of eminent stalwarts like National Film Award winner renowned Indian Film Sound Designer, Sound Editor and Audio Mixer – Bishwadeep Chatterjee, film critic and journalist – Mayank Shekhar, Sr. sub editor – Sonup Sahadevan, Lyricist, writer & producer – Rajat Arora, music duo Anand – Milind, Anand Gandhi, film critic – Robby Shah, Managing Director ( Entertainment ) of Miraj Group – Amit Sharma, Advisor & Influencer – Dominic Dsouza, film exhibitor – Vivek Chauhan, Head of Warner Bros – Sanjay Narayan, film director & chief of marketing – Saurabh Varma, General Manager: India & Gulf States – Home Entertainment, Warner Bros Picture – Muthuram Natrajan, producer & cctor – Monisha Advani, film director – Samar Khan, screen writer – Sanjay Masoom, film director Jaideep Sen, Actor & Director – Amole Gupte, director – Umesh Shukla and Bollywood journalist Faridoon Shahryar to name a few.
The festival curated workshops and guest talks including “Art of Filmmaking” by Anand Gandhi and “Advanced Screenwriting” by Rajat Arora. It also had a panel discussion on the changing scenario of movie business, a competition on editing skills titled “Unrushed – Great things take time”. It also had workshop on “Film Criticism”. The last day of the festival saw the mega round table discussion. The final day saw the screening of the shortlisted movies and the winners were declared.
Minatour from Spain secured the podium for the best film, best sound Design, best cinematography and best editing in the professional category. The second position went to Driving Lesson from Iran for Best direction, editing and screenplay in the same category. In the amateur category the medal went to Bioscope from Bangladesh for best direction, cinematography, screenplay, sound design. The second position went to Cycle from Poland for best editing.
