The three-day inter-collegiate media festival ‘Mumbai Media Champs’ MMC 2016 as it’s popularly known, turned out to be a good brand building exercise for Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies (DGMC), Malad (W), Mumbai that brought together over 35 colleges across the city and ensured an action-packed three day media extravaganza.
A total of 22 events under categories such as performing arts, literary arts, fine arts, media, and management saw around 80 participants converge on the DGMC Campus from 25 to 27 January.
The three-day media fest witnessed a spectacular start amidst thunderous cheers & glitter on 25th January 2016, with well-known film director Bejoy Nambiar, who was the Chief Guest, and popular film and television actor Samir Soni, who was the Guest of Honour, releasing balloons and declaring the event open. In his inaugural address chief guest Bijoy Nambiar reminisced about participating in such fests during his college days while Samir Soni, the guest of honour infused energy in the crowd by briefly narrating his eventful journey. On this occasion, DGMC launched its first student’s initiative e-newsletter ‘Media Melange’ at the hands of the chief guest Bijoy Nambiar.
Day one had twelve gripping events, which were judged by eminent media personalities like Shri. Shanti Bhushan, Shri. Bharat Ranga, Mr. George Sebastian and Ms. Runa Ashish, among others.

Day two saw another round of twelve enchanting events, with more media personalities like Shri. Faridoon Shahryar, Ms. Mansi Dhanak, Ms. Rekha Rao and Shri. Rohit Sobti, who judged the various competitions.
One of the most unforgettable moments of Day 2 was the crowning of Navaldeep Singh from S K Somaiya College as “Mr. MMC”, and Nidhi Kini from Lords’ Universal College as “Miss. MMC”. These were the most coveted awards and the star attraction of the festival.The playback singing event on Day 2 registered up to 40 participants out of which 12 qualified for an exciting finale on the stage.Soon after a glittering awards ceremony was organised to felicitate students of DGMC for excelling in film projects that were a part of their academic curriculum. Srimati Shivdevi Deviprasad Goenka Trust donated various awards that were conferred on this occasion.
Shri. Ashok M. Saraf, President RSET, delivered the welcome address and felicitated Dr. Manju Nichani, Principal K.C. College, Chief Guest for the evening. Honourable Trustee Shri. Vinod Dalmia ji then welcomed and felicitated the Guest of Honour Mrs. Nishita Goenka. A total of 25 categories were nominated for awards on this occasion.
More than 200 energetic volunteers from DGMC diligently worked round-the-clock under the guidance of Dr. N.M. Kondap (Director General, Rajasthani Sammelan Higher Education Trust) and Dr. Mangesh Karandikar (Director, DGMC), with support from Prof. Devendra Pandey(Head Academics), Prof Partha Samanta, the in-charge of MMC, Prof. Saurabh Deshpande, Prof. Amisha Dawda, Prof. Mayuresh Belsare, Prof. Dinesh Khemani, Ms.Geetanjali Wani and other staff to make the event a memorable experience.
Day three i.e. 27th January, 2016 saw the culmination of the fest with “Rock-A- Mania” and “War of DJs” unfolding to electrify the environment further and it successfully ended with a Pro Show with opening by DJ Asztrack followed by DJ Cyper followed by an elaborate Prize Distribution Ceremony.
